Brian,

Esperanto would definitely solve the problem, it would take a while for me to learn it though ;-)

I totally agree that most of the potential users speak English but the problem still remains that you have to know the German word "Bahnhof" when you are searching for a "Train Station" in Switzerland. The search for categories in Google Maps solves this problem only partially and there are for example huge differences in data quality between Germany and Switzerland.

As a native English speaker I am told that the language problem does not exist.

The reason? Everyone speaks English, worldwide, fluently, already?

Perhaps there is an argument for Esperanto after all

Excellent article. I particularly like 2,4, 6 and 7. If mobile search queries are analyzed, it is clear that peoples' needs are relatively predictable and homogeneous (in comparison to PC-based search). Proxpro is the first company to integrate the mobile calendar with GPS. By knowing where you are, where you need to be, when you need to be there. We display the fastest route to avoid congestion and tell you exactly when to leave. We believe it is the world's first level 3 situation aware mobile application (it interprets the environment, comprehends the significance of objects / events / environmental factors and predicts future outcomes. Google Maps, replicates a PC-based experience quite well, but is only level 1 situational awareness - hence your frustrations.
